Getting Ready to Go On the Diet

There were a few things I needed to do before I started the Rosedale diet:

  • Run it (briefly) past my doctor - he wants me to lose weight - he wants my diet to be low carb and lead to effective weight loss. Rosedale is fine by him.
  • Persuade my husband Gary, who does our food shopping and cooking, to agree not to bring anything into the house that is not OK on the diet. He agreed somewhat relcuctantly, because it means he’ll be ‘mostly’ on the diet too. He’s diabetic & could do to lose a few inches around his belly, but he hates weight loss diets, and *always* cheats.
  • Set a date to start - the next Monday. I like to start a diet on Monday because work is a good distraction from food.
  • Start talking with Gary each evening over dinner, about what needs to change in our meals, and about what kinds of meals we can eat - after a few discussions, he’s pretty well internalised what he’ll be cooking.
  • Use up most of the perishable ‘non-Rosedale’ food before the diet starts on Monday. Because we’re already low carbers, that was mostly just some fresh fruit, and some red meat, neither of which are allowed in the first three weeks on the diet.

After all of this, I was ready to start.
